Welcome to Busbridge Infant School

We are a two form entry infant school, offering high quality education to boys and girls aged 4 to 7 years. Our school is situated on a large site, on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to Godalming.

The school is rated Outstanding by Ofsted, which said in its last full inspection: “Busbridge Infant school is a very special place. The whole experience is designed to help children to make the vital transition from a play-oriented environment to an academic curriculum. This is done with immense passion and care.” (Read Ofsted’s full report, and its subsequent interim report.)

We are proud of these high standards and work hard to maintain them. We provide a happy and safe learning environment – a stimulating setting where each individual is inspired and flourishes. We aim to equip all our children with the essential skills and tools that will set them on the road to lifelong success.

Our values

The culture of the school is founded on five main values:

  1. Care: being kind, gentle, helpful, polite, considerate.
  2. Ambition: trying hard, being determined, resilient, persevering, taking risks, personal motivation, application.
  3. Responsibility: for learning and actions, reflecting and improving, being honest and independent.
  4. Enjoyment: love of learning, curiosity, positivity, optimism, enthusiasm, confidence.
  5. Respect: for other people, as well as for property.
Infant school is the start of your child's formal education. Our staff and governors are passionate about, and committed to, ensuring your child is happy, safe, learns and grows; and that they are ready, by the end of Key Stage 1, for their next step to Junior School. Our vision and motto – "Turning little steps into confident strides" – embodies this. It is reflected in the school day, the curriculum and our school policies.

We benefit from terrific support and partnerships with parents, carers, our neighbours and other schools in the area. We are particularly grateful for the active role of parents through the PTA in raising valuable funds for the school, and helping to create a warm and friendly school community through a series of events throughout the year.

Do come and see for yourself – visits to the school are most welcome and we look forward to hearing from you on 01483 417 898.

COVID-19 Update

Following the Government's announcement on Wednesday 18 March, schools, colleges and early years settings will be closed to everyone except children of key workers and vulnerable children from Monday 23 March, as part of the country’s ongoing response to coronavirus.
Some Suggested Resources for Supporting Learning at Home:
On Monday, each class teacher will be uploading some suggested lesson activities onto their class VLE homepage. Click on the green login button, then click on the picture log in and follow the instructions. You will then arrive at the class home page/dash board.
The activities provided will include 5 phonic/spelling sessions; 5 literacy; 5 maths; plus some ‘topic’ activities linked to current class themes. Please feel free to do these as and when it is convenient for you to do so at home. We have provided a named exercise book for each child for any recorded work. These are suggested activities and not an exhaustive list. Please feel free to do other activities of your own choosing. Don’t forget your maths packs too (Years One and Two); you may like to revisit newsletters (all of which are available on the school website) and practise the activities listed there. You may also like to undertake some of the practical activities available on the school website here. We also provide a range of practical activities to help teach children at home.
In addition to Bug Club for reading material for the children, you may also like to visit Oxford Owl for a wide range of ebooks, including Oxford Reading Tree, Project X and others. If you go to class log in, enter “bischool” as the username and “school” as the password and this will take you to the library of available texts.
Thank you once for your continued support during these challenging times. We will undoubtedly be in touch over the following days and weeks. Let us do all that we can to follow Government advice to ensure that we keep ourselves and others as safe and healthy as possible.
